why i created “the crate edit'“
Hi there! I’m so glad you found your way here!
Pull up a chair and let’s chat.
I created The Crate Edit for a lot of reasons, but mostly because I couldn’t find what I needed, and I figured I might not be the only one.
First of all, I’m a mom. I’ve been homeschooling our kids for five years now, and from the start, it was important to me to use secular, evidence-based science and accurate history. Spoiler: that’s harder to find than it should be. The secular options out there are… limited, to say the least. I love learning, I love creating things, and eventually, I just thought: What if I made it myself? Why not me?
Second, I have a deep love of planning, while also being a slightly chaotic person. When I got ADHD diagnosis I was like ahhh yeah that makes sense. About eight years ago, I bought my first paper planner and instantly became That Person™. Color coding, stickers, highlighters, the whole thing. But none of the planners ever really worked for me. Sure the stickers were fun for a week or two. As soon life (real life) happened though and things didn't go as planned the stickers didn't really matter. Too structured. Too many pages I skipped. Not enough of the ones I needed. I’m a scribbler. I need to scribble all my thoughts down, then rip the page out to then edit them into something that resembles logic.
So I built a system from scratch: flexible, forgiving, and ADHD-friendly. It’s called the Plan Your Way system, and I am completely obsessed. I hope you will be too! I hope even more so that it helps you plan in a way that actually supports your life instead of overwhelming it.
And finally: community. The real kind. I think the world is starved for it. Especially for parents and homeschoolers, who often feel like we’re doing this alone. I want The Crate Edit to be more than a blog or a shop. I want it to be a space where people can show up as they are, wherever they are, and feel seen. A place to ask questions, share wins, vent about the hard days, and find others walking a similar path.
That’s my why. This is for the ones doing their best with what they’ve got. The ones making their own way. The ones who need a flexible plan, some real-talk encouragement, and a reminder that they’re not in this alone.
Thanks for being here. I’m so glad you are.
