how to recover when life blows up your schedule
Last month, we had one of those weeks. The kind where nothing goes to plan. A sick kid, unexpected life surprise, and a work deadline all landed at once. My old self would have thrown the planner out the window. Batten down the hatches, we’re in survival mode and it’s time for panic.
Instead, I flipped my Life in Rhythm pages, crossed off what truly didn’t matter, and reworked the rest into quick wins. Did we finish every homeschool lesson? No. Did we survive the week with our sanity mostly intact? Yes. All the priorities got accomplished and we we’re able to keep our cool because I was able to narrow in our priorities and what truly mattered to us and not waste any energy (that we didn’t have) on things that can wait for a different week.
Planning isn’t about predicting the future. It’s not a crystal ball/ wishing well combo. It’s about pivoting gracefully when the future shows up in sweatpants, messy hair and a toddler with a runny nose holding onto her leg. Having a flexible system means you can bounce back without starting from scratch every time life gets messy. It allows you to, in the words of Ross Geller “ PIVOT!”.
When I need to reprint a page midweek, my home printer is a lifesaver. Affordable ink, easy wireless printing, makes resetting so easy!
